"Looking at the weather now, it does seem like a thunderstorm is approaching. Your medicines are at home. Will you be able to handle it if it starts raining heavily?"
Rogan looked distressed.
"It's fine. I have my earplugs here. We should focus on finding Dr. Feroma. Our priority right now is to save Venus."
"But…"
Out of nowhere, a plethora of gunshots were fired at the car.
"Ms. Lierger, buckle up!" Rogan accelerated the car in hopes of escaping from their assailants as fast as possible.
However, there were traps hidden on their escape route.
The car ended up crashing into the woods after hitting a huge rock.
"Sh_t! I should've driven an off-road vehicle."
With her teeth clenched, Rogan tried to reverse the car to get it back on the road. However, one of the tires was stuck in the drain by the road.
Carla lowered down the side window before uttering, "It's okay, stay calm. Do not get out of the car. You should just keep on trying to reverse the car."
"Yes." Rogan continued to reverse the car.
On the other hand, Carla was shooting back at the assailants. With her precise shooting, she was able to eliminate quite a few of them.
However, it still wasn't enough as there were way too many of them. Realizing that their car was stuck, the assailants started closing in on them.
"Call for help, " Carla commanded.
"Yes…" Just as Rogan was about to contact her men at Northridge, a bullet flew through the window and hit her shoulder.
"Ahh!" Rogan exclaimed.
"Rogan…" Carla quickly pulled her down to avoid the shooting. "Hang in there."
Rogan shoved Carla to the side, "Ms. Lierger, run! The car won't be able to get us out of here. This area is full of traps. They've been expecting us."
"Stop talking. They won't kill me. I'm an important hostage to them."
"But…" Before Rogan could finish her sentence, a copious amount of red lasers were directed at them.
Dazzled by the red lasers, Carla stayed completely still.
In a blink of an eye, she was surrounded by a large group of people.
"I have finally captured you, Carla."
A familiar voice was heard within the crowd surrounding them.
"Solara!" Carla yelled out loud.
Solara had been waiting patiently at Rokan Hill for her chance to ambush Carla.
She deliberately instigated Shelley to escape in order to create a distraction for the underlings of the Lierger family. Then, she simply set up an ambush and waited for Carla to come to her.
All according to plan.
"Who's laughing now, huh?"
Solara sneered at her.
But before she could capture her, several jeeps forced their way onto the scene.
"Ms. Giblo, watch out!" The bodyguards shouted.
Trying to dodge the jeep coming her way, Solara fell into the drain.
The bodyguards of the Giblo family got down from the jeeps and started firing at Solara's men.
"Help me up." Solara was enraged.
A few bodyguards helped her up from the drain while maintaining fire at Zayn's men.
The gun battle between them was very intense.
In the midst of this quagmire, Solara instructed, "Go and capture Carla. I need her alive."
I'll definitely lose if this battle continues. I should just get Carla and retreat for now.
"Yes, Ms. Giblo." A few of Solara's men rushed toward Carla.
"Cover me!"
Zayn uttered as he jumped out of his jeep and went after Carla.
