As soon as Kareen's voice fell, Katie felt deeply ashamed.
On hearing her words, mom grabbed her by her ear and yelled at her saying: "Kareen, I don't to hear such again! Is that understood!"
"Ye.. Yes mom!!!", she said jumping up and down in pain.
Mom let go of her ear and pointed at the door.
"Go to your room!", she commanded.
Kareen looked at me then at her and walked out with a hidden smug look on her face.
"You....!", I said noticing it, about to pounce on her when she ran out.
"Katie!", mom said holding my hand.
"Come on now, she's just a child, you shouldn't do this are an adult now!", she said seriously.
"But mom!", I said in a whiny tone.
"I don't want to hear it. Is this what you are wearing to the saloon?", she asked staring at me in disgust.
Before I could say another word, she added, "You look like someone going to milk cows!"
Of course I am! That animal, Kareen.
I looked at myself and said nothing.
"Get changed, no daughter of mine should look like a farm girl, especially not the cuter one!", she said as she walked towards the door.
On hearing this, I couldn't hold back from blushing.
She opened the door and stopped abruptly.
"Katie....", she called.
"Yes mom?", I replied.
"If what Kareen said was true, you better use the lawn mower!", she said, walked out on shut the door.
I felt so embarrassed.
I am so going to get back at this girl.
This is the best time to do so. Going out!
I hurried up and got dressed in my blue jean dungaris which had a lot of pockets. I picked up a pack of chewing gum, threw some in my mouth and put the rest in my pocket.
I looked around for a red hair dye I bought for my doll sandra some years back. It wasn't made for dolsl, so after dying her hair, I still had a lot left.
After finding its container, I held it up and smiled mischievously.
"Let's see who gets the last laugh. Hahaha!", I said and began to laugh.
"Katie!", I heard mom knocking, so I put it in one of my pockets.
She opened the door and said: "Let's go!"
"That's my girl!", she said glaring at me from head to toe.
I smiled and bowed slightly like a princess. If only she knew the plans I had for her daughter.
I got out of my room and followed her to Kareen's room.
She knocked on the door and said: "Kareen, let's go!"
"I am coming mom!", Kareen replied aloud as we heard things crashing in her room sounding several "bangs!"
"What's going on there?!", mom said with her hand on the handle.
"I can't find my black shirt!", she said aloud seemingly still searching.
"Black shirt? What do you.....!", mom said, now irritated and opened the door.
Mom walked in but I remained outside. I didn't want to that b_tch's face! Besides, I was still thinking of ways to get back at her.
So I ignored the drama and stepped out.
On my way down the stairs, I saw a black shirt on the floor.
On seeing it an idea surged up in my head.
"Jackpot!", I said with a smile.
I quickly picked up, looked back to see if anyone was coming and then took it to the kitchen.
I looked around to see if I could find anything I could use to write on it.
"Perfect!", I said on seeing the bottle of ketchup.
I placed the shirt on the counter and began to draw on it.
After writing, I read out loud for errors: "I smell like a cow!"
"Perfect!", I added smiling.
I waited a while for it to dry up a bit.
While waiting, I heard Kareen yell: "No mom, that's the only one I want! I don't want nothing else!"
Her voice came up as she seemingly left the room.
I quickly rushed out of the kitchen and wore a smile on my face.
"Sister!", I said aloud.
When I thought about it again, I changed the smile to a frown and then walked out of the kitchen.
"I found it!", I said with an sour expression on my face as I stretched it forward.
She came down with her little girl singlet and slightly poking br_asts.
When she got close and was about to take it, I pulled it back and said: "What about this?"
"What about what?", she asked with a frown on her face as she looked up at me.
"Can you see how far we drifted apart? You can't even say a thank you when I do something nice for you!", I said now like a well trained actress filming a movie.
She said nothing stil stretching out her hand.
I took both her hands and raised them up.
"Let me help you little sister, after this, let's stop fighting, okay?", I said and put the dress on her.
"Is that ketchup?", she asked inhaling deeply.
On hearing her question my heart skipped several beats before I finally came back to my senses with a comeback.
"Oops! Guilty as charged!", I said as I licked my fingertips.
She looked at me suspiciously, said nothing and walked away.
As I watched her leave, I tried so hard not to laugh as I looked at the words "I smell like a cow!" boldly written on her back with ketchup.
As soon as she got out of sight, I began to laugh aloud.
At this time mom was coming down the stairs and she asked: "Katie, why are you laughing?"
"Nothing mom!", I said as I ran into the kitchen to keep the ketchup back as well as erase any trace of me using it.
On getting to the kitchen, I discovered that the bottle had fallen to the ground.
"F_ck!", I exclaimed confused.
I.. This... It was put at the center of the table, how did it get there?
Luckily for me, this particular bottle wasn't made of glass like the rest.
So I quickly walked over to clean it up.
I bent down to clean it up when I discovered that the spilled ketchup on the floor spelt out two words.
I turned tilted my head and angled my eyes as I read: "Well played!"
Well played?
To be continued.......
