Seeing Ronald smiling mischievously at the crowd of old and young men Infront of himself, Xender said aloud: "I object to this! Commander… Father, you can't do this!"
The commander turned to her and spoke with a smile: "why not?!"
"Cause! Cause! We are your daughters! Don't you care about our happiness, does your throne mean more to you than our lives?!", Xender asked.
For a moment, the Commander and the crowd was silent.
Then a voice suddenly echoed: "His health is the most important thing!"
Everyone turned to the direction of the voice and saw Davis walking out.
"I'll fight for your health sir.", Davis said with a bow as he went on of his knees.
"I'll marry your daughter help protect her, not for lust. Even though they truly are beauties."
All watched in shock.
"Davis……", the commander called as his smile slowly grew on his face.
He looked at me then back at Davis and continued: "……Another wise young man. I look forward to having a son-in-law like you."
The whole time, Helen had been looking at me with a melancholic expression obviously praying I stood up, but I remained sitted watching.
Ronald who initially had a smile suddenly grew wrinkles on his face as his red eyes became fixated on the kneeling Davis.
On seeing this, I began to smile.
"Anyone else?!", The commander said aloud looking at the crowd; more frequently at me though.
I turned to Xender and realized that she too was looking at me with her eyes red and tearful.
When I saw this, my initial arrogant and non-chalant look melted in an instant.
She immediately looked away obviously sobbing.
The only reason she isn't opposing this old fool is because of the deal she made with him for my sake. It'll be too cruel for me to watch this happen to her.
Secondly, I can't really stand seeing her with another person?
Thinking of this, I recalled the scene with her and Davis on the log, my heart went tight in an instant and the sharp pain I usually felt on the scar on my chest was ignited once again.
"Derick, you are bleeding!", I heard a familiar voice say.
I quickly looked down to the hand placed on my chest which truly was bleeding.
It was clearly visible from the light inner that came with Helen's outfit.
I looked up and found April's worried face as the tears surged up in her eyes.
"Lord Derick!", Another voice called with a surprised tone.
"You are bleeding!", Harrison, the new cheif gaurd said alarmed.
"Don't!", I said holding his hand as he turned around about to call for help.
The attention of a few some in the circle had already been bought by this little scenery but only I understood why I was bleeding.
"But Lord Derick!", He added.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine.", I said about to stand up when April held my hand and muttered with the tears now streaming down her eyes: "don't…"
I looked at her and with a smile, I said: "I have to!"
"No you don't! Look at you! Haven't you been through enough already?! You just recovered, it's not even been up to 24hours!", She said aloud with great burst of emotions.
"You are right; but trust me, doing nothing is going to hurt me.", I replied and stood up anyways.
With my hand in the air, I spoke: "Excuse me!"
With that, all there who didn't notice the little drama just now became quiet.
"Dead or Alive?", I asked.
The stunned crowd turned to the commander, waiting for his reply.
The commanders expression changed suddenly, and in angery manner, he spoke: "Alive!"
"If I can get the snake you want, can I choose to give them freedom?", I asked.
And once again, the crowd's expression grew more bewildered.
"Is this guy for real?"
"Sacrificing himself for nothing? Really?!"
The commander looked at me, then at Davis who was also looking at me and pushed up a smile.
"Yes, the choice is yours, just get me my snake!", He spoke.
To be continued……
