It was midday on a hot summer's day in July when a group of explorer-like people came along the Gobi beach in the western frontier of Springs. The group was dressed in ordinary field sportswear, with sun hats, large bags on their backs, and compa_ses and water bottles hanging from their waists.
Muech a group of people is not uncommon on the Gobi Desert. In fact, every once in a while, there are always groups of explorers who come here to investigate and research, either to explore the landscape or to do scientific research, to name but a few.
What is surprising, however, is that this group of explorers, all young men in their twenties, and without guides, just about a dozen of them, seem to be walking aimlessly.
But in fact, if one looks closely, one will see that although these people look lazy and seem to be walking with great difficulty in the hot sun, their gazes, hidden under their visors, are so sharp that they are frightening. On their wrists, they all had high-precision satellite positioning devices, but the devices looked as if they were just watches, which seemed very inconspicuous.
Moreover, although the formation of these people appeared to be very loose, as if they were moving at random, in fact, if one looked closely, one could vaguely see that there was a certain pattern to the formation of these people, whether it was the direction they were moving or the distance between them, this pattern existed.
Moreover, no matter how these people moved, the distance between them did not change much, and it looked as if they were one whole.
"Number one, how much further do we have to go?" A young man at the front of the line turned his head and asked his companion.
"Sir, according to the position marked on the satellite map, we are currently approaching the target." A young man next to him said: Close to the target? How much longer exactly?" The young man in the lead frowned and asked.
"Half an hour at the most." The young man next to him looked at the electronic map and said in a low voice.
"That's almost half an hour away, and if we march briskly, we can get there in ten minutes at most…… Has the special operations brigade sent word yet?" The young man asked again.
"Not yet." The young man next to him said.
The young man leading the group pondered for a moment and said, "Alright then, find a hidden place, we'll take a break for now and be careful not to reveal our target."
"Yes!" The young man next to him said immediately, and with a wave of his hand, he bellowed lowly, "Find a place to rest! Number nine and ten are in charge of the vigilance!"
Several people quickly found a rock pile that had been weathered and sat down on the leeward side.
"Finally, we're getting there." Leaning his back against the not-so-hard rock, the young man in the lead took a sip from his water bottle and said, "Cheer up, we'll approach as soon as the signal comes from the special operations brigade, everyone pay attention, there are reformers among the opponents this time, be careful."
"Yes!" The others replied with one voice.
This group of people was none other than Wendell and the ten special soldiers of the Red Arrow Brigade he was leading. The one in the lead was naturally Wendell, and beside him were the duo of Gubaro and Lacia Xela.
In order to avoid revealing their identities, Wendell and the others were addressed by code names to each other. Wendell was made sir, Gubaro was number one, and Lacia Xela was number two…… The ten people were arranged in order, from number one to number ten.
The reason why Wendell and the others appeared in this Gobi Beach was only to avoid the target being too big and exposed, so this is why they came separately from the special combat brigade led by Delvan, relying on the satellite positioning system and the electronic map for separate operations. According to the previous agreement between Wendell and Delvan, this time the battle will have Delvan's special operations brigade to carry out the main attack, Wendell and others are at the side to a_sist, responsible for covering the special operations brigade, as well as catching the fish that do not slip through the net, other than that, there is no need to ask.
Regarding this arrangement, Wendell did not have any objection.
This was because he knew that the people in the Special Combat Brigade had already been through a hundred battles and had very rich experience in dealing with reformers, something that the current Red Arrow Brigade lock could not compare to. So in order to learn from the experience, Wendell agreed to do so.
In fact, if we were to analyse the two teams purely in terms of their individual combat capabilities, the soldiers of the Red Arrow Brigade were more suitable for a strong attack than those of the Battle Brigade, knowing that since most of the year ago, the soldiers of the Red Arrow Brigade had started practising body-building exercises. Purely in terms of physical fitness, the soldiers of the Special Combat Brigade are slightly inferior to those of the Red Arrow Brigade.
However, on the battlefield, although the ability to fight alone was important, when it came to strong attacks, what was more important was the ability to fight together, which the Red Arrow Brigade did not lack, however, they lacked the experience to deal with that reformer.
Wendell could not help but look up at the sky, under this hot sun, even the lizards and some other creatures most suitable for living in the desert did not dare to come out indiscriminately, this kind of environment, I believe the opponent would not be too vigilant, indeed it was the most suitable time to attack.
Moreover, this Gobi beach was extremely full of boulders that had been weathered and the terrain was uneven, which was very conducive to hiding. The route chosen by Delvan and the timing of his attack were extremely precise, so it seemed that he had really put in some hard work.
"No.1, once the battle starts later, if you have the chance, try to capture a few living reformers. Of course, this is if all the brothers can guarantee safety, if that's not possible, just shoot the other side, safety is the first priority." Wendell admonished.
Gubaro immediately said, "Sir, please don't worry, I will try to catch them alive."
In Gubaro's opinion, sir wanted to capture the live ones, probably because he didn't want the Special Combat Brigade to be exclusive, but no matter what sir's purpose was, Gubaro only had one answer – to resolutely carry out the order!
"Also remember one more thing, if you do find a reformer escaping from the Special Operations Brigade's attack, and thus get into a fight with us, remember that you must not engage in close combat with the other side, and if you can solve it with guns, you must do so, and even if you want to capture one, you must first beat the other side to the point of no fighting ability before you go to capture them, do you hear me! " Wendell once again admonished.
"Yes, sir!" Gubaro immediately pa_sed Wendell's words down with a special hand gesture, and the others immediately saluted, indicating that they understood and would resolutely carry out the order.
Wendell couldn't help but nod in satisfaction, although it was only on the plane on the way here that he had improvised the special sign language of the special forces, but with Wendell's horrible memory, he had already memorized all the common sign language, otherwise, he wouldn't dare to command Gubaro and the others easily.
A leader who does not care about the lives of his men will certainly not be embraced.
It was midday and the weather was getting hotter and hotter, and as you looked out over the horizon you could clearly see the heat rising from the ground, as if it were burning in a furnace below. Even Wendell, whose body is superbly regulated, could vaguely feel a wave of heat coming over his face, so he could imagine how hot it really was here.
"Drip drip drip……"
Wendell's watch suddenly rang, he immediately raised his hand to look at it and shouted lowly, "Everyone get ready, our companions have sent a message, prepare to a_sist the attack!"
Zizi~~!
Wendell and the others immediately and quickly unzipped the large bags they were carrying, and at the same time, took out their weapons and equipment and camouflage uniforms.
"Ka ka ka!" The sounds rang out at once, incessantly, as everyone was looking down and checking the automatic rifles and other weapon configurations in their hands.
"Drip – drip – drip – !"
Wendell's watch let out another slow chirp, and he instantly looked aghast, Delvan and the others were starting to move!
According to the prior agreement, the sharp chirping of the watch meant that Delvan and the others were close to the target, and once this slow sound was emitted, it meant that they had loved was an attack, and a very stealthy one at that.
"Ta-da-da-da-!" A faint sound of gunfire came, and then there was no more sound.
"Make a move." Wendell instantly looked aghast as he shouted lowly, "All of you, disperse, keep in contact and pay attention to safety!"
After saying that, Wendell put his steel helmet on his head and was the first to rush out, holding his automatic rifle, and quickly ran towards the target location shown on his watch.
All those who participated in this operation had a multifunctional military watch with a screen half the size of the palm of their hands. On this watch, there were various functions such as satellite positioning, signal tracking, short-range communication as well as police. Moreover, it was also possible to input an electronic map and set the target, and the satellite navigation would be automatically activated, guiding the owner all the way to the target.
"Go!" Gubaro waved his hand and rushed out after him.
Wendell was all alert and extremely fast, following those weathered boulders in the Gobi and quickly approaching the target. Not far behind him, Gubaro and Lacia Xela and the others followed closely, each on guard.
As Wendell and the others went deeper, the environment began to change, and a fault line appeared on the barren Gobi beach.
It was as if a wall had appeared in front of Wendell and the others.
The feeling was as if one was walking forward and a straight cliff suddenly appeared in front of them.
Although what Wendell and the others had in front of them was not a cliff, it was like a fault in the earth after an earthquake, as if the half of the land in front of them had suddenly risen up to a height of more than ten metres.
Previously, because of the terrain, Wendell and the others had not noticed this fault from a distance, but now, this fault had become a major obstacle to their progress.
"Sir, should we go around?" Gubaro came to the front and said in a low voice, "We don't have any climbing tools with us, it's too high to climb up.
"
Wendell looked around, the fault stretched for what looked like at least a few miles, so it would be too delayed if they went around it.
Bang!
"Wait a minute."
Mueddenly, Wendell was startled, he seemed to hear the sound of a fight.
Wendell's gaze, fell on this huge fault in front of him, and he looked at the fault with consternation, his eyebrows tightened.
"This sound seems to be…… coming from inside the fault?" Wendell asked with uncertainty.
To be continued....
