"What is going on?!", He yelled from where he stood.
As soon as his voice fell, all eyes turned to him.
"Who gave you the right to ordain a sub commander?!", He asked as he stepped down from the stage in fury.
"But commander… I mean Dad; you know her husband died in the war. And he served us well; it's only fair for his wife to take up the position.", Xender spoke.
"That doesn't put you in a position to appoint a sub commander! I am the leader here, not you, not Derick!", He said aggressively.
"I apologize for that sir…", I said and turned around, looking at the people around
Afterwards and turned to him and added: "but sir, with all due respect, I think it's only fair, we… I mean you make her a sub commander…", I added with a bow.
As soon as my face was out of his view, and was looking at the ground, I smiled mischievously, knowing fully well he couldn't reject this.
The entire fort thinks the same, his decision right now may lead to his immediate dethronement. If he is wise even to a little bit, he would have to agree to this.
He exhaled deeply and said aloud: "Mrs. Ping! Sub Commander of Swords!"
As he spoke, my smile increased.
As soon as his voice fell, the entire fort was in an uproar.
They began to celebrate, cheering the commander.
I raised my head up and looked at his straight face.
He couldn't smile nor frown; he just stared at smiling me for a while and then walked back to the stage as the cheers went on.
"Have a wonderful time!", He said raising a glass of wine and the party continued.
Wine and bread was surplus, and so all was overjoyed.
I quickly turned to Xender who was about to walk away, then pulled her to myself and with a hand on her waist, I pulled her out of the main chambers.
As soon as we got out, I pushed her against the wall the building.
After looking left and right, and found out no one was around, I turned to her and asked: "What was that about?"
Her cheeks were puffed, her eyes squinted as she pushed her lips to the side.
"What you doing?", I asked.
"Get off me!", She said as she tried pushing me away with her hand on my chest and belly.
I remained unmoved and like a magnet, her hands remained unmoved from my body.
I looked down at them and then back at her face. For some reason, I felt a sudden urge to kiss her.
Boom!
I did.
"What are you doing?!", She said pushing me away.
"Sorry!", I exclaimed looking a her eyes.
After a short while, boom! She kissed back.
With Xender, this feels so right.
The joy felt in my heart can not be explained. Almost feels like I should have her in me.
"Derick!", A voice called bringing the kiss to an abrupt stop.
"April!", Xender called before I could complete my turn.
There she was, April standing in shock.
The moon's light for some reason is so bright tonight.
"Sub commander Xender?!", April said seemingly now realizing that Xender was there.
"I am so sorry!", She said as her voice broke.
She quickly ran inside.
"Oh gosh!", I exclaimed.
I turned back to Xender, who's expression was now straight as she looked towards the direction April ran towards.
"I don't know how you know the cause of Mrs. Ping's death, but she mustn't know!", Xender said sternly and walked away.
I put my hand on my hair and pulled back as I watched her walk away in confusion.
These girls are something else.
"I need to go for a swim", I muttered as I walked towards the red river.
Splashing with Medusa always helped me get rid of the surged up thoughts.
……
I got in front of the river, took off my clothes took a deep breath and was about to jump in when I noticed something in the river.
"What's that?!", I asked as I squinted to focus better.
"Is that someone?", I asked myself as I noticed the rumbling.
"Help!", I heard a voice.
As soon as I heard the voice, I jumped in almost without thinking and swam as fast as I could to location where I heard the scream.
By the time I got there, I couldn't find the person.
"Hello!!!", I screamed looking around.
Then saw some bubbles making their way out of the water not so far away from me.
"Sh_t!", I exclaimed as I went down.
It was night, so the water was quite dark; but due to the the night's moon emitting a strangely bright light, I was able to see a human figure sinking.
I quickly went for it and grabbed it.
From it's warmth, I could tell it wasn't a zombie.
Zombie's are living dead and so their bodies are usually cold and somewhat dry.
But this person's flesh I could feel, and from the structure, I could tell it was a girl; seemingly clothless.
I quickly got to the shore and laid her by the bank, pressed my hand against her bare belly; pushed severally until she coughed and sat up.
Afterwards, I shyly took my clothes which laid by the shore and gave her to put on as I looked away, standing faced the river trying so hand not to look back.
"Thank you…", the female spoke and exhaled deeply as she tried to gain her breath.
Her pitch and mode of speaking was far different from any girl in the fort.
She coughed some more and chuckled a bit.
"What a gentleman, you can turn around now…", she added.
On hearing this, I turned around slowly to look at her properly.
Her beauty exceeded the girls in the fort by a point or two.
Her hair blonde and curly, almost as long as Xender's. Her face smooth, having just a few wrinkles, probably clear because she was smiling; and her figure, extremely attractive.
I stared at her for a moment and couldn't say a word.
"If it weren't for you, I'll probably be in the afterlife. I wonder why I ever thought I could make it through by the river", she said putting her hand forward with her palm open.
I held it and picked her up, with a pull she was directly in front of me.
With a smile she spoke: "Have a name?"
"A…?", I asked nervous for some reason.
"Your name…?", She said with a smile, lifting her left brow up.
"My name!…… Derick!", I replied.
"Derick… nice to meet you, I am Bell…", She replied with a smile.
To be continued…
