Slash!
"Watch!", Mercury said aloud as blood sprouted out of Nathan's neck as his head flew up.
As his subordinates watched his head fly, Miguel and Mercury began to slaughter them before they could react.
Out of the 10 and 12 on Mercury and Miguel's side respectfully, they were only 9 left in total; 3 and 6 respectfully.
Killed even before Nathan's body fully fell on the ground.
Chattering.... The sound of a fallen sword.
"Clumpsy!", Mercury added with a chuckle.
"Who needs it anyways?!" Miguel smiled awkwardly.
With a hand on 2 heads, Mercury smashed a skull against another, so forcefully he made the men inseparable.
The last guy saw this and was confused.
"I'll make it snappy" Mercury said gesturing him "come" with his hand.
The guy stood and was still unsure what to do; he knew moving forward was the best option for him now, but how could he willing walk towards death.
Plow!
A hand from one of these dead men was plucked directly.
Phew.... The hand flew through the air and went straight to the last one's chest; and with a great precision, it pushed out his heart.
In the hands of Mercury, these men were like children.
Meanwhile, Miguel had killed 2 more and still had 4 left.
He had already become exhausted.
Besides the fact that Mercury was stronger, Miguel had not rested nor eaten properly for awhile, how could he still fight well at this time?
He continued pushing.
Pow.... He threw a punch but was knocked out directly by an even faster punch.
He fell to the ground with a thud and was enveloped by a dark mist.
He looked around and couldn't find any body.
"Is this it? Who would have thought that I'll be killed by one punch..." Miguel sighed regretfully.
Suddenly he began to hear the sound of a crying baby.
He quickly located the direction where the cry was coming from and could now see light emitted from that direction, but just as he was running there he felt a force hitting him directly to the ground.
"Miguel! Miguel!", He heard Mercury's voice call.
When he opened his eyes, he saw Mercury tapping his face with a sword.
"You need this anyway!", Mercury dropped the sword on him.
"Get up, we have to go!", Mercury turned to the gate and said.
……
Meanwhile, at the gate of the Apical battle was: Clark, Kayla and Claire.
"You can't go in!" The huge guard snorted at a man and his family trying to get in.
"But we bought tickets!", The man held up his tickets.
"You should have been here earlier, there are no seats inside!" The guard didn't even put the man's ticket in his eyes.
"Even if we are to stand behind, we will accept it. I can't seat outside with my family!", The man pleaded.
"Rules are rules, the outside space has space for standing!", The guard said pointing out what they called the "outside space!"
The outside space was quickly constructed of vines just before the Apical battle. The distance between the outside space and the Ring is too far for one to even recognize Misha. All they can see is any special effect like fire, or like the ghosts displayed by Isabella, they saw the dark mist and felt a bit of cold from her presence, but nothing so special.
In the outside space, there are so many rebels; unlike in the main auditorium, where noise and rebels are easily curbed, the outside space has no rule or a medium to curb these rebels and so it's usually really messy. Arguments could occur, so violently people even loose their lives.
So unless, you have a strong shell and eye sight, it was best you went home and missed the census.
This is the only benefit of the outside space, the census.
The census is taken in every Apical battle to know the number of persons in the kingdom as well as allocate certain privileges to them. If your name was not found on the list during the periodic gifting, you won't be given.
Also if for any reason there was chaos, only those whose names were on the list would be given provision for safety, for they are the only recognized Quailians.
The man stood in front of the guard as he thought about all the possibilities, from time to time, he'll subconsciously turn to his kids and wife.
Seeing this, Kayla who was on the side, lost all hope of entering; they didn't even had a ticket.
"....Let's go Clark!"
She summoned up courage and spoke to Clark, her biggest hater.
Clark continued approaching the huge guard at the gate completely ignoring her.
"Clark! You'll get me exposed!", She pleaded as she held his hand still trying to keep her pale face covered.
She amongst them was the most tired. She's pregnant and hadn't rested nor eaten well for a long time.
Clark continued to ignore.
"Hey, big guy!", Clark spoke to the guard.
On seeing him, the huge guard frowned: "what do you want?!"
"Lord Palmer's in trouble!", Clark added.
The big guy's face became even more ugly: "If you don't leave here now, I'll make sure Lord Palmer hears of your wishes!"
"I'd really like that!", Clark said as he unveiled his cover.
As soon as Kayla saw this she instictively thought of running. All the guards by now must know that Clark's a fugitive and was running with herself and Miguel. To end her life now having discovered her location was simply one prayer to the demon.
"Clark!", The guard yelled.
To be continued....
