Chapter 34 - Death won

"With the help of white alpha, the zombies multiplied in number. And when he saw that he had gathered enough to attack the humans, he draughted out his plans, and started his attack.

His plans took a while to come into play, but when it did, it was perfect. Fueled with hate and rage, it was draughted to show no mercy to human race.

Perfect was the plan, down to the day of execution, weather in which it was going to occur, and the time of the day it was launched.

He started his attack at the late hours of the day, when people were already tired and going back to their homes from work, and so would find it a lot more difficult to defend themselves, as compared to how they would react if the plan took place any other time during the day. The rain fell heavily that day and so the networking signals had issues.

Not only would the rain affect the signals, it will also create muds and puddles, which will slow down those running, aside the cold factor which naturally slows humans down.

White Alpha went all out in his plan and it's result showed the degree of accuracy.

He captured and killed humans without showing any atom of mercy towards them. With Bella also in on the plan, spawning more zombies at will, none was able to stop them.

White alpha didn't just capture the humans as he saw fit, he went for people with skills, those who could actually help his colony of zombies. Architects, chemists, bio-chemists, soldiers, fighters, leaders..... He found them all, captured, and made them his slave and brethren.

White alpha, a man who regards zombies as better than humans, so much so he called them broth...", she said and paused.

"Derick! You are fading away", she added as I watched my hands dissappear.

I looked at my hands as they dissappeared before my eyes, "mom what's happening?", I asked as it went on slowly.

Mom looked at me as tears rolled down her cheeks. I turned to the ground where my body was.

"He has stopped breathing!", Judith said, "please tell me you are joking!", Helen said aloud as her eyes went moist.

All who heard Juditth's last sentence ran towards my body, "is he dead?", June asked, "no, he is still alive, he just decided to hold his breath... Of couse he is you nitwit!", Judith said p_ssed as she too began to cry.

Xender just stood beside them as she watched all of this.

"There has to be something you can do, Derick can't just die!", April said as she knelt before Judith.

To my surprise, a thud was heard as Judith's hand landed on April's face. The sound of the slap demanded the attention of all in the room.

"Judith!", Mike said as he held his furious wife, "are you blind! Can't you see that I did all I could to save him, do you think if there was something else I could do I wouldn't do it?", Judith said in rage.

Everyone was quiet for a moment, they were confused and angry.

"I apologize on behalf of my wife. I understand that you all are angry and in grief right now, but there's nothing we can do", he said to the hearing of all.

"Mom!", I cried as my arms continued fading away.

"Der dear!", she cried as she touched my face, "I am dead! And there's nothing that can be done about it", I said as mom cried some more.

"I didn't want to resolve to this but let's go, hurry1", she said as she pulled me a hand in my back for my hands were almost no more.

As I ran with her I looked at the ground, and to worsen the scenario, some zombies had surfaced with their ugly faces, and in number, virtually uncoutable.

They were so much they had the cave surrounded.

The troops from fort 4 were obviously scared, as they shaked down to their feets.

"I guess Derick isn't the only we are going to loose today!", Xender said as she marched forward with her bow, "Xender!", Helen as she rushed to hold her sisters hand.

"Let go of my arm Helen!", Xender said coldly as her eyes glew red in obvious rage. On seeing her sisters eyes, Helen immediately took her hands away.

"This is all your fault, the innocent boy was framed because of you!", Xender added coldly, "my fault!", Helen sparked up too, "how is it my fault? Wasn't it your troop member who inspired dad to send him out of the fort?", Helen yelled back.

"Don't you dare shift the blame back to me, I wasn't the one that got him drunk to sleep with me, was I?", Xender replied, "Wasn't that what you were planning to do? You are just jealous I did it first!", Helen replied.

On hearing this, Xender jumped on Helen, pressing a hand against Helen's face.

On recieving the impact, Helen spat on the floor, "you b_tch!", she yelled and charged at Xender, pushing her on the floor, "Ladies, Zombies in front", June said pointing at the growling zombies.

"Sub commanders what are your orders?!", the confused troop members asked the fighting sisters.

"You are such a toad!", Helen yelled as she threw her hand at Xender, Xender caught the punch and threw hers at Helen, "for someone with spots, you sure know how to select your words!", Xender added as she landed another blow.

"Girls! Girls! Girls!!", Judith yelled aloud, as the fighting got to a temporary pause, with Xender on top of Helen, who had already taken some punches and was about to receive some more if not for Judith's intervention.

"You guys aren't being fair, you shouldn't beat and curse yourselves for what I did. It's all my fault!", Judith said as she walked forward, "if I hadn't acted the way I did, this dead and stubborn weight wouldn't have tagged along with him. Derick's a good kid, I am sure he died trying to protect him", Judith explained, "I agree, I am a dead piece of stubborn weight... But now we have to face what is before us, how do we do it without Derick?", Mike said.

"Mom, they need me!", I said to my mom, "let's focus on getting you back before saving them", she said as we continued running.

"We are here!", She said.

At this time my hands were no more and my legs too had began to fade. "What are we doing here?", I asked weakened, it felt like all my strength was lost.

In addition to the weakness, I had no feet to stand on... Falling to the ground inadvertently followed suit.

"They call this the temple", she said as she walked to where I was and picked me from the ground and placed me on the altar.

"They said a life can be exchanged for another here, I thought I wouldn't have to do this but, I can't watch you die!", she cried as she went down on her knees.

"Mom... You don't have to do this... Please", I begged not wanting to live knowing that she would die.

"Please... Temple, if you can hear me, I am willing to exchange my life, for the one on the altar, please accept my sacrifice!", mom cried.

"mom", I uttered my last word as my eyes faded away as did my mouth.

"Derick!!!", I heard her scream echo until it was as faint as nothing.

FROM XENDER'S PERSPECTIVE:

I got off Helen, and stood before the herd of zombies, counting about 2 thousand plus in number.

With Derick dead, it is obvious we can't win this one, the best option we have is to escape.

Death can be a real pain in the ass, but once it comes nothing can change that. a wise man once told me that, instead of crying about your loss on the battle field, it is best you move on, otherwise you would have some more and a really good reason to cry.

"We have to have to escape, that't the only way!", I said.

"She's right, we can't face them all!", the Doctor supported.

"Helen command your troops to start shooting in a particular direction on my command!", I said as I placed 3 arrows in my bow.

"Doctor get a hold of your husband and prepare to run! April, June stay with the doctor and her husband, and move on my signal.

The zombies stood in front of us seemingly waiting for us to make the first move.

I warped into their consciousness, charging up in strength, speed and agility, as I tried to figure out why they stood still.

"They are waiting for something, no, someone", I said as I looked further into the crowd.

"Guys, we have to move now!", I said aloud sensing the ugly presence approaching, "Helen are you ready?", I asked Helen who had been talking to her troop members for a while now.

"Yes!", she replied.

"Alright, now! Shoot to my left", I yelled aloud.

And the soldiers began to rain fire, to the zombies at the left hand side, creating a path between the zombies and the wall.

"Now, run through! Let the soldiers go in front", I commanded as the soldiers marched before everyone else as they continued shooting and clearing the path.

"Now! Doc, April, June, Helen! Go!", I said aloud as they too ran forward while I followed from behind trying to cover them.

"Where do you all think you are going", a heavy sloppy baritone resonated aloud.

And out of the crowd of zombies, a bald, very fat zombie lazily walked out.

"Dear God!", the doc exclaimed in shock.

The soldiers in front kept on running in fear. "No one's leaving!", he said with a frown and to everyone's astonishment this big ball bounced on the soldiers, crushing about 10 at once with his fat ass.

"No one's leaving!", he repeated as he got up wiping his bloody butt.

Medusa who had been quiet for a very long time now, quickly charged at him, and went around him, grappling tight. He pulled Medusa off himself like she was nothing, throwing her into the crowd of zombies.

"Gross! I hate snakes", he said as he used his hand to clean himself.
