Chapter 34 - On the way

"I wonder why you guys make it look like Joe is really smart!", The guard, Rufus, who had been joking about Joe's words spoke.

"How can he say they were going to the Main Chambers?! Isn't that where we are coming from? How could we have missed them if we passed the same path? Or are they other ways to the Main Chambers besides here?", Rufus added with his palms opened as he explained.

On hearing Rufus's explaination, the guards began to murmur.

These two persons in everyone's opinion had always succeeded in causing great controversies.

Everyone still wonders how Rufus is able to oppose Joe after all his losses so far.

"With this amount of noise you people make, even a roaring lion can moved passed us and we wouldn't know!", Joe spoke angered.

When some of the guards heard this, they felt offended.

"Watch it!", Some said.

"When I made that statement, I knew it was going to trigger the ones responsible; guilty hearts!", He spoke referring to the barbarians like Rufus who spoke.

Just as some of the barbarian like guards were about react, Kim spoke: "Come to think of it, the Apical battle is today; the campers could have been anyone really.... Probably wanting to go to Quaila for the battle!"

"Absolutely!!", Rufus added happily.

"And how can smarty pants here prove that they aren't going to Helilia even?! And that's why we didn't see them!", One of the Barbarians added.

"You guys are all bunch of blind fools!!!", The irritated Joe groaned.

The barbarians became even more angry, Kim also felt offended.

Seeing how aggressive the barbarians were getting, Hogan decided to intervene.

"Hey!!", Hogan who had passed his daughter to his wife spoke aloud and the guards slowly became quiet.

Aside the fact he was the one placed in charge of their move, the Quailian guards had a level of respect for Hogan. He was after all the one in charge of their money distribution.

"We are not so far from Helilia, if we go back now and they are actually at Helilia, wouldn't that be a waste for us?!", Hogan spoke.

On hearing this, Rufus's smile, swept both sides of his cheek.

It was obvious he had won Joe on this debate. The rest Barbarian like guards also felt something similar to Rufus, they too had been victims of Joe's winning and so were naturally happy.

The logical ones could also make sense out of Hogan's words and so didn't say anything either.

Joe on the other hand was more than certain that Miguel was no longer in Helilia, his experience in this made him very confident in his judgment. But the majority had won the vote and so he had to follow.

He shook his head and said: "I am glad you'll be able to get your daughter treated!"

After speaking he proceeded to move before the guards in the direction of Helilia.

The barbarians began to hoot behind him as he walked away saying nothing.

However, the last words of Joe hit Hogan's heart, because although what he said on the surface was logical, but his true intentions were to get to Helilia and have his daughter treated. He knew deep down that Joe was good in his ability to detect these kind of things.

……

A few hours ago while on their way back to Quaila's Main Chambers, Miguel, Kayla and Clark saw some men holding up sticks litted with fire.

They were obviously Quaila's main guards, so they quickly started moving towards their east in an attempt to avoid them.

They did this until the guards had moved passed where they were by a considerable distance.

"Are you sure they didn't see us?", Kayla asked scared as she looked at the guards as they moved away making so much noise.

"I don't think so!", Miguel added as he too looked at them move away.

"Glad the sun's not out yet. We have to keep moving!", He added and continued moving with a serious expression.

Clark and Kayla who had really drive and had been walking through out the night were very tired at the time. Claire had dropped asleep on the road and so was picked up by Clark and carried thus far.

Kayla looked at Miguel and sighed as she watched him move like one who wasn't human.

"The next of that I hear, I'll cut off your lips!", Clark said to Kayla and continued moving with Claire in his arms. Although tired, but he still beared the grudge with Kayla; in his opinion, they wouldn't have gone through all this if the grass spoke up in the first place.
