Am I back in the psych facility, I said attempting to get up; but suddenly felt a sharp ache in my head and so laid back down.
"Ahhh!", I said with a hand on my head.
Just then, the door was pushed open, Kareen and dad quickly stepped in.
"Katie!", Kareen called as she walked in.
If it weren't for the ache I was feeling I would have rushed down to hug her; It felt like I was gone for weeks, I've missed her so much already, never thought I would ever see her again.
She came to me and hugged me passionately, crying and speaking gibberish.
"Katie… I've… Katie!", She spoke.
"Kareen!", I called as well.
In as much as this ghost thing has done so much harm to us, it also found a way to bring me and my sister closer.
"Girls, what are you saying?", Dad said laughing.
Only then did I turn to him.
My dad who always appeared young, full and vibrant, was now looking older and a bit slimmer.
"How are you doing?", Dad asked.
"I am fine dad, how are you?", I asked back.
He hesitated for a bit, then replied: "I am fine sweetheart, don't worry about me."
Just then, the door was pushed open again.
"Katie!", I heard mom's voice.
"Mom?", I said shocked to hear her voice, and remained so until she got to where I could see her.
"Mom!", I called about to shed tears when I saw her with the baby in her hand.
"How's my baby girl?", Mom said walking closer.
"I am fine mom…", I said trying to touch the baby.
"When would she be allowed to leave?!", Mom asked dad.
"I'll go ask the nurse", dad replied and walked away.
"So Katie what's happening to you?", Mom asked with a hand on my face.
"Jimmy said you and Kareen were having a meal and suddenly you slammed your head against the table and fainted.", Mom explained.
On hearing this, I turned to Kareen whose face had become straight.
"I don't know mom…", I replied as dad and a nurse walked in.
"She has to stay here for a couple more days…", the nurse said.
As soon as I heard this, my heart got tensed.
"No! Please don't leave me here alone!", I cried.
"Katie…!", Dad looked at me in shock.
"You are over eighteen, what are you scared of? Monsters under your bed?", He asked sarcastically.
Yes, a joke, but not a lie.
I truly am scared of potential monsters under my bed.
"I'll stay with her!", Kareen said affirmatively.
As soon as her voice fell, everyone turned to her.
"Kareen?!", Dad said surprised.
"Yes dad, I want to stay with my sister.", She replied.
In my heart, I was so grateful.
Having someone who could relate and understand what I was going through, this was simply a blessing.
Can't imagine being alone and being visited by Denzel.
"You sure about that sweetheart?", Mom asked Kareen.
"Yes mom, absolutely!", Kareen replied looking at me.
"Alright then!", Dad said and turned to the nurse about to speak when mum yelled: "what?! I was expecting you to say something refuting! How could you go with that? I can barely keep up with one of you being in the hospital how much more the 2 of you!"
"Honey, it's Alright…", dad said trying to calm mom down.
"Just see as a trip; assume they both went see grandma…", dad added with his hand over her body.
Mom kept quiet for awhile like one who was getting it, but suddenly, she sparked up again: "No!"
She turned to nurse and asked with tears in her eyes: "isn't there another, can't you come check up on them at home?!"
"I'll have to ask the wards managing doctor…", the nurse replied.
"Please do…", mom said and the nurse stepped out.
"No matter how many kids I get, each and everyone of you is important to me!", Mom added with a hand caressing Kareen's face.
"I know mom, but then what's the worse that can happen to us? We are in the hospital after all; if there's a problem we are second away from treatment.", Kareen added.
Mom looked around and added: "what about infections?!"
"Come on Sweetheart, now you are just being paranoid. I am sure they check these things…", dad added pulling mom and the baby closer to himself with his arm.
Just then the door was pushed open yet again and the nurse walked in.
"The Ward doctor said leaving is at the patient's risk; he advices she stays for at least a couple of days. And also, the little girl can stay.", The nurse explained.
After the nurse's speech, mom's face sank.
"It's going to be fine sweetie. Hope you girls are with your phones?", Dad asked.
"Yes we are!", Kareen said raising up her phone and mine.
"That's awesome! Honey, let's go…", dad said pulling mom away.
"Kareen dear, I'll be back with some of your things…", dad added.
After hugging and exchanging a few pleasantry they left leaving I and Kareen alone.
"I guess it's just me and you sis!", Kareen added with a smile.
"Can't believe you've been in the hospital for 2 weeks. I thought I had lost you…", Kareen added as grabbed a sit next to me.
2 weeks?! Really?!
"Anyways, now that you are back, let's take it up from where we stopped.", She added as she brought out an old note from her bag.
