When they arrived at the inner sanctum, out of the blue, it seemed warm and
welcoming, like a magnificent but not overwhelming home.
A large family portrait hung on the wall, with many people in the photo, the old king in
the very middle, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Derila saw a young William in the picture, much like he is now, except that at that
time, he was not yet paralysed and there was light in his eyes.
Those clear, precious blue eyes were as brilliant as the stars in the sky. He was nestled
in the King's lap with a smile so innocent that it was clear enough that he was happy at
that time. After all, his parents were also standing by intact.
"I can't believe I looked forward to growing up as a child." William suddenly let out an
exclamation, "How silly!"
"One always has to grow up."
Suddenly, a mellow voice came, Derila turned around and saw that the old king
was just like on TV, loving and easy-going, but looked very kind.
"Your Majesty." William bent down and bowed his head.
Derila, out of courtesy, bowed her head in salute as well.
"Welcome, Dr. Feroma." The old king gave Derila a deep look and then said to
William, "William, just call him Grandfather like before, no need to be so rusty."
"Yes, Grandfather." William nodded his head.
"Please sit down." The old king greeted and took his seat.
Derila didn't make any formalities and sat straight down on the sofa.
The palace staff brought pastries and fine Epean black tea, then silently retreated to the
side.
The Silas stood silently behind the old king, his head bowed.
"Early yesterday morning, Clark came to the palace to report something, I would now
like to check with you." The old king made a gesture.
A middle-aged woman in the shape of a secretary came over with a tape recorder and
first saluted the king and William, then began to play it.
The voice over was Clark's report to the old king of what had happened. Clark first said
that William had returned to the castle and had once again had a relapse of his old
illness, and then that William had had a very powerful divine doctor come to the castle
to examine and treat him.
The divine doctor found out that he had been poisoned and then followed the trail to find
out that the entire water supply of the castle had been poisoned, as well as William's
essential oils.
Clark also brought in samples of the poisoned water and essential oils to be checked.
Throughout the whole process, Clark made sense, but didn't mention anything else, or
who the suspects were, or even any other incidents of bullying William had suffered
over the years.
The old king had asked him a few questions midway through, but other than that, did
not make any comments, but finally instructed Clark directly to have that doctor come
to the palace to see him and wanted to ask about the situation personally.
Clark was immediately flustered and hastily excused himself.
It was better if he didn't push back, but as soon as he did, the old king questioned his
motives, and it was then that Clark revealed Derila's other identity.
Listening to the recordings, everything was just as Clark had dictated, and there was
nothing wrong with it.
Only later, the old king's attention turned all the way to the relationship between
Daemon and Derila.
The old king almost didn't answer when Clark said so much earlier, and when he heard
Clark say that Derila was Daemon's fiancee, he immediately pursued the
question, was this information accurate? The old king was almost not able to answer.
Clark said yes with conviction and also said something about what happened between
Daemon and Derila.
The old king pursued this very carefully, repeatedly confirming that Daemon was
serious about Derila and had the intention of getting married, before he relented
and said that he would personally contact William later to inform him of the treatment
plan.
Hearing all this, Derila, even if she was more innocent and ignorant, understood the
powerful relationship, more than whether William was persecuted, the old king was
more concerned about this relationship between her and Daemon.
