10 billion dollars?!
Chris was really overwhelmed.
Chris knew about his grandfather's wealth, but when he was young, he knew not much about money. He was only aware of that the Arthurs were among the top families in Cliffspring and the country as a whole, but he had no idea how much they really had.
If 10 billion dollars was called pocket money, the Arthurs must be worth more than a trillion dollars!
Honestly, this was able to soften his heart, but when he thought about his dead parents, he couldn't put him self to forgive Lord Arthur, his grandfather.
On noticing Chris's reaction, "Young master, forget not that you a member of the Arthur family, and the money is actually yours! Besides it your fathers", Griffin explained.
"Lord Arthur also said that if you come back, the Arthurs trillion dollar property, will be yours. If you don't come home, you can use this money for the mean time", he further explained.
"Oh! Hillsprings's biggest enterprise group, worth a hundred billion dollars, was bought by the Arthur yersterday, and all shares are in your name, tomorrow, you can come claim your right at the company.", Griffin added.
Chris was in a bit of doubt.
The investment seems a little too much for the Arthur to make for his sake.
An Axel group with the net worth of a hundred billion dollars! And a premium card, whose credit limit is 10 million dollars.
Hillsprings was full of talents, but the Axel group has been able to maintain an honourable reputation. It was the best business industry in the Hillsprings, even prominent families with great influence had to bow before the Emrald group, that includes the Bromwick's, the White family, and even the Miller family whom Mrs. Bromwick had been trying to curry favour from families. In other words, all the family that insulted him! They were all low before the Emrald group.
And now! It was revealed to Chris, that this company belongs to him.
On seeing Chris's expression, Griffin handed him a business card, "Young Master, I'll excuse myself, so you'll have time to think about all this. This is my card, please call, if you have any requests!", he said and left.
After Griffin had left, Chris was still bewildered. He wasn't sure if he should receive this compensation from his grandfather.
He thought back to all the misery, mockery and hard living he had experienced since the death of Mr Bromwick. This was his compensation for the years he was abandoned by the Arthur family, so why reject it? And besides, Aunt Mary's Medical bill was there, and un attended to.
He gnashed his teeth, closing his fingers. He suddenly turned back to the cashier, "Hi, I would like to settle the medical bill now.", he said.
After swiping the card, he was asked to input his password, he did so, and the transaction was approved, with 2 million dollars credited into the hospital's account.
It still hadn't settle in Chris's mind.
Is the once mocked Chris now a billionaire?
He got home still lost in his own mind.
Nora, his wife and her parents did not stay in the Bromwick's family villa, they lived in a normal house. They've been so, since Mr Bromwick died. Due to Nora and Chris's marraige, they were kicked out of the Bromwick's family villa.
Chris's mother-in-law was really angry, "Chris is loser! He's a disgrace! If you don't divorce him, grandma will kick you out of the Bromwick group!", she yelled, "when that happens, I'll get another job!", Nora replied.
"You....", his mother-in-law growled angrily, "what did you see in that stupid loser! Why can't you just divorce him and get married to Mr Miller like grandma wants? You know that if you do, you'll make our family proud!", she added, "your mom is right! If you marry Mr. Miller, our family will be treasured by your grandma, and you know what that means! Grandma will cherish and pamper you!", Nora's dad supported.
"Just stop it! I will not divorce Chris!", Nora replied, "you are just a kid!", they said still trying to persuade Nora when Chris came in.
When they saw him, they looked at him scornfully, "I honestly wished you forgot your way here! Rubbish!", His mother-in-law snorted in disgust.
Chris sighed in his mind. His parents-in-law had always looked at him disdainfully.He wonders how they would react, if he reveals to them that he was the current owner of the Axel Group, as well as a cash sum of 10 billion dollars!
However, he decides to keep his identity a secret.
He has long been out of the Arthur family, he knew not how the family was doing. Who knows if someone if someone in family was waiting for him to reveal himself so they attack him?
Therefore, it's best he stays hidden.
"I apologize for all the troubles I caused today", Chris humbly apologized.
"Trouble? You are more than trouble, you just keep embarassing us! Can't you pickup the slightest clue that we don't want you in our house?", His mother-in-law said.
"Mom! How could you say such? Chris's your son-in-law!", Nora hurriedly interupted, "Bullsh_t!,", her mother barked, "I won't have such rubbish for a son-in-law! The farther he goes, the better for us all!", she added.
"Let's go to the room", Nora said pushing Chris, Chalie nodded gratefully and followed Nora to the room.
Chris and Nora had been married for 3 years, but not once had they had sex. Nora slept in the bed while Chris slept on the floor.
But this night, Chris found it difficult to sleep, consedering what happened today, he found it difficult to fully digest it.
Just before they slept, Nora asked about aunt Mary. She also claimed to have a 100,000 dollars with her, and that they could make use of it the following day. And Chris told her not to worry, that someone had paid her bills and had her transfered to the Cliffspring hospital to further her treatment.
Nora exclaimed in awe, and Chris further explained to her that aunt Mary had done so much good deeds for people, and that it was now time for her to reap what she had sown, by people returning the favours.
Nora was glad, "you can rest now, knowing fully well, aunt Mary's going to be fine?", she uttered, "yeah!", Chris replied.
"I'll have to get some rest now, there's alot going on in the company, and I am so tired.", she sai yawning, "what's been happening?", Chris asked.
"Well, the company hasn't been doing well lately, and grandma has been trying to collaborate with the Axel Group, but the Bromwick family is too low to them, to make such a collaboration successfully", Nora explained.
"Hasn't it happened before? A collaboration between the Bromwick family and the Axel Group?", Chris asked.
"Hell no! How can the Axel Group stoop so low to collaborate with the Bromwick family! I doubt we are even on their map! Even the Benjamin and Linda's fiance's family are no match for the Axel Group. That's why grandma wants us to get married to the white family, so we can build up a connection with the Axel Group!", she further explained and Chris nodded.
It seems like the Bromwick family had been trying their best to collaborate with the Axel group. But little did they know that the Axel group they had been trying to get connections to was owned by him.
On thinking of this, Chris decided to take over the Axel Group to help Nora out. Her family had ill treated and bullied her for too long. As her husband, it's his responsiblity to raise her head up high, improving her status in the family.
"My darling Nora, your husband is different now! I will see to it that you are never looked down on! I will see to it that the entire Bromwick family bow down to you!", Chris spoke in his heart and slept off.
