In the main chambers.
Mercury who had been pacing around his room deep in thought, thinking on what he had done and contemplating on how and if he should plan an escape heard heavy knocks on his door.
Before he could even get to the door, the men further banged on his door aggressively.
"Come out!", They chorused as they continued hitting his door forcefully.
He came out and was confused.
"What's going on here?", He asked politely, trying to make sense out of the happening.
"Come with us!", They commanded immediately.
"Where?!", He asked trying to understand why the Apical head guards had suddenly become hostile to him.
Lord Palmer's room was just next door, the rooms were built in such away that they could hear themselves clearly, incase of emergencies. So Mercury found it strange that Lord Palmer did not come to his aid.
"You'll see!", They said as some yanked his hand.
Without further speaking he forcefully pushed them away, attempting to escape.
But to his surprise, these men held him tightly, two on each side, obviously prepared for his reaction.
They pulled him forcefully and pushed him to the middle where the rest could all reach him.
"Who organized this?", Mercury asked now realizing that this was not ordinary.
"Lord Luca!", They spoke.
"Lord Luca?!", He repeated.
"Go!", They pushed him impatiently.
They lead him forcefully till they got to the Apical hall.
And to his surprise, Lord Palmer and Luca were seated side by side on their respective thrones.
"Lord Palmer!", He went on his knees to greet.
"Where have you been?!", Palmer asked immediately.
"In my room my Lord", he replied.
Bang!
"Argh!", Someone hit his head hard with a metal bat. He fell to the ground and for a few seconds he was dizzy and unable to think straight.
"You of all people should know the implication of lying to me!", Palmer added.
Mercury remained on his knees and said nothing still trying to regain himself.
"I ask again, Mercury where have you been?!", He asked more authoritatively.
Mercury stagered up and looked up to Lord Palmer and began to speak.
".... My Lord.... Before you called, I was in my room, just beside yours..", he replied and was about to be hit again, but this time he caught it.
"Stop it!", He commanded and like a spell, the guard who had previously raised the metal bat walked back.
"... But before that, I went to see the psychometry master, Xenguy", he replied.
"And why was that?!", Palmer asked.
"I felt he got an information he failed to mention...", Mercury replied.
"And you didn't think it be good for your Lord to know?!", Palmer asked.
"My Lord!", Mercury said as he went down on his knees.
"I am sorry... I understood the position you were in and so felt you would want to be left alone.....", Mercury replied.
"Hmmmmm.... And so you went ahead to kill him!", Palmer added.
"....uhh?!!", Mercury replied in confusion.
"Kill?!", He added.
Bang!
The metal bat collided against the side of his belly.
"Isn't it strange how he wasn't the first you killed today!", Palmer now getting off his throne said as he walked towards Mercury who held unto his belly and grunted in pain.
"Mercury my right hand man, now taking laws into his own hands!", Palmer spoke as he stood in front of Mercury.
"You knew how much pain I'll be in after Miguel's banish, a perfect plan to get the throne. Just before the battle for Apical head, you connived with master Xenguy so I'll send my son away and become vulnerable. And just so the stone doesn't float later, you shattered the poor rock; genius!", Palmer spoke.
"Oh my Lord, who has bewitched you?!", Mercury spoke from the depths of pain understanding now that he really had nothing to say to defend himself.
Boom!
He was kicked by Palmer.
This time when he landed, he began to cough out blood violently.
"Lock him up! Make sure he's locked up in the new cell!", Lord Palmer commanded and it was so.
Mercury in his state was carried out effortlessly and locked up in a prison newly constructed for the multi possessors of Quaila.
Lord Palmer stood there after ordering Mercury out and was broken to tears.
He thought about all he and Mercury had shared and wondered why Mercury would do such a thing.
Luca stood up and was sympathetic towards his father. Due to the happenings, he vowed that he would never have a right hand man for fear of such an occurrence.
He knew how broken his father had become because of these things, but he was never the son his father could confide in.
This he knew and was hurt by, but did nothing besides commanding all in the vicinity to leave his father alone.
To be continued....
