All the zombies present rounded us up, almost all at once, in that instant I was confused, I lost my composure, I looked at the fire and then around me as the zombies came closer. I am in no position to deal with this.
"Arghhh!!!", I yelled as I tore off my shirt, the scream and action was able to buy the attention of all present, I rushed closer to the fire hanging my shirt over it, It caught the flames as well, I began to spin it slowly above my head, and the zombies moved away from me, giving a reasonable distance between myself and them, they all watched me in amazement, Mrs Claire, and her grandchildren included, I bent down and picked up a piece of wood I found sticking out the fire, I quickly dropped the shirt I was holding cause the flame was getting to my hand.
With the piece of wood I chased the zombies away from my friends, and with it I had their sticks lited up, so we were able to form a fire circle, one which no zombie dared to cross.
He began to clap again, "you really are amazing!", he added, "keep the circle closed!", I commanded ignoring his compliment, "let's go!", I added as we began to walk away.
"Don't you want to know what happened to your mother?", he said and I stopped, Mrs Claire and the rest noticed and stopped, "she's..", he said and was interrupted by Mrs Claire, "she's dead, Derick don't let him get to your head! Let's keep going", Mrs Claire said aloud, "no! She's not dead, she's very much alive....she's just not her self!", he added, "what have you done to her?", I said aloud as I walked back to him; April, Mrs Claire and June followed trying not to cause a break in the circle of fire we had created.
"I made a soldier out of her. As we speak she's leading an army of zombies to take down a fort built up by humans, she's destroyed several and has not lost a single battle since we recruited her", he explained, "Liar!", April yelled, "oh please! You of all people should know how much I hate lies", he added, "bring her back!", I said putting the fire to his face, unlike the last time, this time he moved some distance away from me, "I can't bring her back....but you can", he replied, "how?", I asked, "why should I tell you? You have nothing worth such that information", he said, "what do you want?", I asked and he began to laugh, "I believe that was the first question you asked when you got here, am sorry for not giving you the answer directly. I want you!", he replied, "you want me? why?", I replied, "Derick the sticks are burning out", April said, "I want you to join my army, you can replace her if you want. it seems like a fair deal, your life for hers", he replied.
"Derick we have to go!", June said pulling, "yeah Derick, don't listen to him", Mrs Claire added as she too began to pull, "you know for a fact, I am not lying", he added as we moved some distance away from them, "follow them closely, they'll run out of wood soon!", the white suited zombie said as he and his zombie brothers followed closely.
After they had followed us some distance and I saw that they weren't giving up, I waited till we got to a place with densely packed trees, "hand me your sticks!", I commanded, they obeyed and watched, I threw them off one by one, "what are you doing?", June asked, as the zombies also looked in amazement.
With the fire stick I was able to create a wall of fire between us and the zombies, "Run!", I commanded as the tree caught fire as well, "nice one Derick!", I heard the one on white say as we ran away, "the trees!", I said, as I looked back and saw them going through the far end of the fire wall.
"how do we get up?", June asked, "I'll help you up and you pull us to yourself okay!", I said to him, "okay! Hurry!", he said and I put my fingers together so he could step on them, he did and I pulled my strength together and pushed him up.
He successfully got to a decent branch, "now pull April and Mrs Claire!", I said and turned to the zombies approaching still in a large number, "June!", I called, "yes!", he replied with stress in his voice as he pulled April up, "bow!", I requested, "just... a sec!", he replied.
After successfully pulling April up, he threw the bow and the pack of arrows, I held the bow firmly setting an arrow on it, as they got closer, while April and June tried to pull Mrs Claire up.
I began to shoot at them, luckily for me the first three that came were normal zombies, no metal plates, so my arrows penetrated their heads, "Derick you can come now!", April said and I walked closer to the tree, put the bow across my body and threw my hands in the air so they could pull me up, being too weak to do my usual stunt with my knife.
I was pulled up successfully and shortly after, the zombie brothers arrived standing around the tree like they did before, only this time they had a leader. "Smart young boy!", he said as he looked up to us, "so you think you've escaped?", he asked, "if you think otherwise, why don't you come up and get us", June said and began to laugh, "Brothers! I think it's time I teach you how to get up on trees, so these peasant humans stop hiding on them", he said as we watched and waited to see what he wanted to do, "Brothers! get on one another until you are on that branch!", he commanded and in seconds they began to run climbing one another and falling off themselves.
June continued laughing as he saw them falling of themselves, "Keep trying! You would get up there in no time and make sure you bring me the head of that laughing hyena up there!", he commanded and in no time they succeeded, on one, the other jumped on, and on the other, another jumped and another supported from falling, "what's the matter hyena", the zombie on white mocked as June's laughter faded out
If they continued they would definitely get to where we are, "Let's go higher!", I commanded, and we began to climb. Like before, I supported June, and he did his sister, and they, Mrs Claire and I.
"Intelligent! But for how long can you keep that up, remember the tree isn't infinite!", he added, truly he has a point, after doing that 2 more times I stopped and brought up the bow, "what are you doing Derick? Let's keep going", June advised, "we can't run up for ever", I said and aimed at the zombie on white, he smiled and continued looking at me, "oooh I am scared!", he added and put his hand in front of his eyes trying to make fun of me, "you do know his head is metal plated right?", June added, "I have to try!", I said as I pulled the bow's string along with the arrow and let go.
It flew as intended, hitting the white suited zombie on the forehead and just like that it fell down confirming June's words about it's metal plated head, I took another arrow and placed it in the bow, "what are you doing Derick? Let's go!", he added again and I ignored, "Derick they are getting to us!", April added and I ignored her too watching the white suited zombie as I held my bow alot more firm and concentrated.
"Let's go April! Derick has lost it!", he added, "are you done?", the white suited zombie asked as he removed his hands from his eyes, and I immediately let go of the arrow, it went, collided with the corner of his nose and slid into his eye, "Arrghh!!", he shouted, as April fell of June's hands, "April!!!", June and Mrs Claire yelled consequentially as she fell; June was obviously trying to push her up by means of inter-twining his fingers so she steps on them and climbs, like he and I does.
Before I could turn to her, she had fallen to the second branch, one which we just left. "Stop!", the zombie on white yelled and they all stopped moving. some whose position was dependent on movement fell one after the other.
"Take me out of here!", he yelled as he tried to take the arrow out of his eye, "Derick!!!!!", he yelled, I looked at him and was p_ssed even, I was actually aiming for his eye.
"I'll make sure I come back for you!", he said as he was taken away, "and when I do, it will be to supervise your demise!!", he added as his voice echoed all over the forest.
"April!", June said as he jumped down to the branch where she fell, "are you okay?", he asked touching her face while I watched them from where I stood and she said nothing seemingly unconscious, "It's all your fault", June said pointing at me, "My fault!", I said p_ssed as I jumped to where he was, "how is it my fault?", I said p_ssed as walked closer to him, "if you had carried me like you always did, she wouldn't have fallen, "are you out of your mind!", I yelled looking at him and holding myself back from hitting him, "Derick!! Please!", Mrs Claire begged seeing me tightening my fist, "What is he going to do?", June said, "June Please!", Mrs Claire begged from the top where she was.
"just look at what you made me do to my sister!", he said getting aggressive, "I am done with all this, you are so!! Air headed!", I added and turned around so I don't get tempted to hit him, cause if one should fall from the height we are at, it won't be pleasant, "Derick!!!!!", Mrs Claire screamed as I fell freely from the tree's branch, as a result of June's push.
